About our Program

The ATSICHS Brisbane Support Services team leads the NDIS programme, aiming to provide personalised assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals with disabilities aged 0-64 in the service areas of southeast Queensland. The dedicated NDIS Support Coordination team is committed to helping individuals effectively use their NDIS plan funds for services that align with their preferences and needs. ATSICHS Brisbane is steadfast in its commitment to removing barriers and enhancing support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The primary objective is to address the disproportionately low participation rates of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals in accessing and implementing their NDIS funding, ensuring that the benefits of the scheme reach those it is intended to serve. With offices in Woolloongabba, Logan, and Chermside, our Support Services team extends its assistance to communities in Brisbane and Logan.

About the Role  

Empowering individuals to achieve their goals through NDIS support.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated NDIS Support Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants in understanding, implementing, and managing their NDIS plans, fostering their independence and well-being.

Duties

  • Collaborate with participants to interpret their NDIS plans, ensuring they understand their allocated funding and available support options.
  • Assist participants in implementing their plan, including identifying and connecting them with suitable service providers and community resources.
  • Develop and maintain individualised support plans aligned with participants' goals and aspirations, fostering a collaborative and person-centred approach.
  • Advocate for participants, ensuring access to culturally safe and appropriate support services that address their individual needs and promote holistic well-being.
  • Build strong relationships with participants, their families, and other stakeholders, fostering open communication and collaboration.
  • Support participants in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their own NDIS plans and navigate the system confidently.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment, maintaining strong internal and external networks to enhance service delivery.

Desired Skills and Experience

Requirement

  • Holds a relevant Tertiary qualification in disability support, social work, health, or a similar field and/or with 2 years’ relevant experience in social services field; and/or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in engaging with clients, family members, and service providers.
  • Demonstrated ability and comfortableness working in a performance driven environment to meet individual weekly, monthly and quarterly performance targets.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the NDIS principles and framework.
  • Possesses excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
  • Experience liaising with external service providers.
  • Ability to network and develop effective working relationships.
  • Is passionate about empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals.
  • Has a commitment to providing culturally sensitive and inclusive support.
  • Is a team player with a positive and proactive attitude.

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience in the NDIS Support Coordination role.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities.

Other Requirements

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence.
  • Current Criminal History Check.
  • Current Blue Card.
  • Current Disability Worker Screening Worker (Yellow Card).
  • Ability to travel across the designated service region as required.
