Job Description

About the Role

The Youth Services Team Leader will facilitate and effectively identify the needs of young people in delivering targeted and goal driven supports that focuses on their genuine needs and aspirations. The Youth Services Team Leader will directly assist Senior Case Managers and young people to access a coordinated wrap-around suite of services with the aim to achieve behavioural changes and engagement with ATSICHS Youth Service team. 

Duties

  • Deliver comprehensive assessments with young people in determining their genuine needs and aspirations.
  • Lead the development and oversight of complex case management practices that deliver outcomes for youth.
  • Demonstrate positive and warm engagement, encouragement and guidance of young people in achieving goals.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Commit to a high level of quality management for ATSICHS through use of LogiQC quality management systems.
  • Provide personal tracking and reporting of monthly statistics and data.
  • Commit to ongoing involvement in Case management processes and practices.
  • Cultivate productive working relationships at all levels, which support the nurturing of internal and external relationships, facilitates cooperation, trust and respect, values differences and diversity and guides, mentors and focuses on the development of staff.
  • Assist in the shaping and growing of ATSICHS organisational culture that promotes teamwork, positive workplace culture, communication and engagement in a way that inspires a sense of purpose and direction.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum bachelor or diploma qualifications in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Behavioural Science, Social Science, Youth Work, Community Services or relevant field. 
  • Previous experience in case management and coordination activities using a client information system.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex caseloads with a focus on co-ordinating appropriate referral services for high risk youth.
  • Develop networks and maintain effective working relationships that contribute towards the objectives of the Youth Service in order to meet the targets of the program, and where necessary identify emerging issues, service gaps and opportunities to build on service delivery capacity.
  • The ability and willingness to attend case conferencing across the Brisbane and Logan regions as required.
  • Flexibility in service provision that include on call after hours to support high risk management for youth justice and child safety, as well as creating innovative practices.
  • Ability to provide complex case management and to support staff in providing after hours high risk management to youth justice and child safety.
  • Ability to co-ordinate daily rosters and staff leave in conjunction with the Youth Manager.
  • A willingness to travel across the ATSICHS Brisbane and Logan region of services and work across different sites.
  • Knowledge of the supports available to young people in the areas of mental health, education, employment and housing.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively to young people through the use of decisive listening, influencing and persuasive skills.
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Working with Children’s Card (Blue Card) or be eligible to apply.

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Bachelor qualification in either Social Work/Human Services/Behavioural Science/Psychology/Criminology/Allied Health/Occupational Therapy/Sociology/Public Health or relevant field.
  • Counselling skills.
  • Previous experience in a senior case worker and/or workforce training role.
